The announcement came after Caleb Beeby was crowned the winner of Australian Survivor: Redemption, bringing David Genat's first season as host to a dramatic close.

Caleb defeated the field after 45 days in Samoa, taking home the $500,000 prize after a final stretch built around endurance, loyalty and one brutal late-game decision.

Caleb won the final individual immunity challenge, then voted out his closest ally Loz before facing the jury. It was the kind of final move Survivor fans will be arguing over for a while: ruthless, risky and impossible to ignore.

The finale also gave fans their first major tease for what comes next. David Genat confirmed that the next season of Australian Survivor will film in Malaysia and feature a "world-first theme" not previously seen in the franchise.

That is a big promise for a format that has already tested tribes through Champions v Contenders, Brains v Brawn, Heroes v Villains, Titans v Rebels and Blood v Water.

Malaysia also gives the show a fresh visual and strategic reset after Redemption's Samoa setting. New terrain, new weather and a new theme could all change the way players approach camp life, challenges and alliances.

For now, 10 has not revealed the name of the next season or the theme itself. But after Caleb's win and David's finale tease, Australian Survivor fans already have a new mystery to obsess over.
