After a tense first week in Mount Eliza, Chantel and Wyatt found themselves at the centre of the episode's biggest drama. The pair were caught by foreman Dan breaking one of The Block's clearest rules: contestants must do their own painting.

Chantel insisted it was an honest mistake and said their tradesperson had only just started when Dan stepped in. But the other teams were not convinced, with some suggesting the move sounded more planned than accidental.

The issue spilled into not one but two body corporate meetings, and neither did much to calm the tension. By the time room reveal arrived, the painting drama was still hanging over the site.

Chantel and Wyatt's First Room Reveal Falls Flat

The judges were not especially kind to Chantel and Wyatt's first room, handing them 20 out of 30 and placing them fourth for the week.

For a team already dealing with suspicion from the rest of the contestants, the feedback landed hard. But it was not even the worst news of the night.

Scott Cam then revealed how badly each team had handled their budget for the first challenge. While one team came within just $6 of their estimate, Chantel and Wyatt were miles off.

Their original budget was $8,966, but their final spend reportedly blew out to $20,700.

That meant they were almost $12,000 over, and comfortably the worst performers in the budget challenge.

The Quit Threat

The budget blowout appeared to rattle both of them. After judging, Chantel and Wyatt left looking shell-shocked, and in the car they openly discussed whether they wanted to stay on The Block at all.

Chantel said she did not feel like she wanted to continue, while Wyatt also admitted he did not want to be there.

It was a dramatic turn for a team only one week into the competition, especially with previews teasing more fallout to come. The pair were shown missing from the worksite and the contestant share house, before a tense exchange with Scott Cam.

A Rough Start In Mount Eliza

The Block is never gentle in week one, but Chantel and Wyatt's start feels particularly messy.

They have already been pulled up over a rule breach, failed to smooth things over with the other teams, landed near the bottom of the judges' leaderboard and blown their budget by a huge margin.

Whether they actually walk away or decide to push through, the episode made one thing clear: Mount Eliza is not easing anyone in.

And if the first room reveal is already this heated, the rest of the season could get very uncomfortable, very quickly.
